Meet Dr. Leigh Burnett – Founder and Doctor of Audiology at Oak Mountain Hearing Associates
Dr. Leigh L. Burnett, Au.D., M.C.D., CCC-A, is a lifelong resident of Pelham, Alabama, and the founder of Oak Mountain Hearing Associates. Her mission began with a vision — to make quality audiology care more accessible for individuals and families across Shelby and Chilton Counties.
What makes Dr. Burnett’s approach unique is her personal connection to hearing loss. Having worn hearing aids since the age of four, she brings a deep understanding and empathy to every patient interaction. This firsthand experience drives her commitment to helping others overcome the challenges of hearing loss with compassion, understanding, and personalized solutions.
With over 35 years of experience in clinical audiology, Dr. Burnett has worked with diverse patient populations, helping them reconnect with the sounds of life through advanced hearing aid technology and individualized care. Before founding Oak Mountain Hearing Associates, she spent many years providing comprehensive hearing care at a Hoover-based ENT clinic.
Dr. Burnett earned her Bachelor’s degree in 1986 and Master’s in Communication Disorders with a specialization in Audiology in 1988 from Auburn University. She completed her clinical internship at Baylor College of Medicine and The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, under the mentorship of Dr. James Jerger, widely regarded as the father of modern audiology.
Beyond her professional life, Dr. Burnett enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing with her three dogs—Emma, Chip, and Samuel—cheering on Auburn sports, relaxing at the lake, and savoring good Mexican or Italian food (with the occasional brownie).
As a proud member of national professional audiology organizations, Dr. Burnett remains dedicated to providing personalized hearing care in a warm, welcoming environment where every patient feels understood and supported.
